What you gain by travelling 30 kilometres
The neighbouring district is sometimes faster than your own city
People search in their own city, which is only natural. Meanwhile the waiting list in a big city can be longer than in a district hospital half an hour away that serves ten times fewer patients.
The city against the surrounding area
We compared the average waiting time in the fifteen largest cities with what we found within about thirty kilometres around them, leaving out the city itself.

These are averages across all medical services, so treat them as a hint rather than a rule. For one specific medical service the difference can be much larger in either direction. The simplest way is to check it yourself: set the radius in the search to fifty kilometres and see what comes out on top.
